Multiple routes, one file

Got a multi-day trip in separate stages, or a ride recorded in pieces? Merge the GPX files into one continuous route. You set the order, the tool joins them together.

  1. Upload two or more GPX files in the sidebar
  2. Put them in the right order with the arrows
  3. Download the merged file
The files are joined exactly back to back. If the end of one and the start of the next are far apart, you get a warning and see a jump on the map.

How merging GPX files works

The tool joins your files into one continuous route, in the order you add them. If the end of one file is far from the start of the next, you get a gap warning — so you can immediately see whether the order is right.

Note the difference with recorded rides: to merge two Strava activities into one ride, use Merge activities instead. It keeps time, heart rate and cadence. This page builds a route without time — meant for navigation, not for uploading as an activity.

Frequently asked questions

In what order are the files joined?

In the order you add them. If that's wrong, remove a file and add it again.

What does the gap warning mean?

The end of one file is far from the start of the next. A straight connecting line appears there; usually you'll want to fix the order or add a connecting section.

Can I merge rides with heart rate for Strava?

Use Merge activities for that: it keeps timestamps and sensor data and sorts chronologically, so Strava accepts the file.
